fucking with pedals and shit

Recommended Posts

Guest Glass Plate

ok so I have to play this friday at a coffee shop, I don't have to, but I'm supposed to play for 2 hours

My friend has a bunch of effect pedals and will let me use them, and I was thinking I might just do little jams with simple loops and shit while people enjoy talking and drinking their coffee (what a coffee house performance SHOULD be)

would this be good enough for that? (mind that this is after only like 20 minutes of practicing, it will be much better)

well I mean, I could easily make up 2 hours of that video easy, since I made that one up on the spot, but yeah it would get old, I like your help sky tree it's rather nice, and I will try to employ a lot of it, i was going to use my 303, and if I had a midi-cable I'd use the tr-505 too, (the 16 second delay has a midi clock, but it has to be master, but I could do simple 505 beats with my shit)

I do have a mixer, I have a small like 8 channel behringer mixer, I have a mini-disc player, and a MP3 player.

skytree? :omg: i may be a leaf but not from the sky tree.

does that mixer have effect sends? in that you can connect some effects to the mixer and use those effects via a knob on each channel. that way you can have say two drum tracks going through a channel each and use the faders and add say delay to those drums really easily. you can do some really complicated creative stuff like that.

i do recommend doing versions of songs you've already done though unless you're a very good musical improviser. i could quite easily go play 2 hour long improvised guitar thing... but it's never going to be as good as something actually composed because of the limitations of being one person and not being zappa or hendrix or someone. so if you did versions of already composed songs you can combine the good parts of improvising (fresh sounding, go on tangents etc) with having a more composed basis. be like doing a electronic version of a jazz jam on a standard and see where you ca take it.

yes they do have effect sends

just do a super ambient set - something with minimal beats, nice pads and low bass with the occasional saw1 style melody. i dunno about you, but i can usually improvise stuff like that right off the top of my head.

I don't have a reverb or a flanger pedal =/

I'm working on purchasing a reverb pedal, and my own delay.

my friend has:

16 second digital delay

Digitech Digital Delay

MXR Phase 90

Crybaby Wah (shitty wah)

Boss Tremolo

Big Muff

and then he also uses my shitty Arion Octave Pedal. (which is almost no good at all for keyboard stuff)
