Guest 277: 930-933
It is important that you spend a lot of time with the synthesizer. The microkorg particularly enjoys long walks on the beach and roller coaster rides. It is also important that instead of randomly twisting the knobs you listen to how the sound changes when you edit what parameter. Look at the way the interface is set up. You've got your two editing sections with different sub sections. They are arranged in a somewhat logical order. I like to adjust tuning and maybe add a little portamento later so I usually go straight for the first oscillator when I'v e decided if I want a double layered voice or not and have changed any other thing in the voice menu(sub section). Play around with different waveforms, and tweak their settings, try turning down one oscillator in the mixer section. After finding a waveform that suits you it may be nice to start fucking around with the filter a bit, select a filter type you find soothing and see what you can do messing around with the filter envelope generator. Notice how there's also an amp eg, the eg allows you to further shape the waveform, with Attack Decay Sustain Release, thing about the meaning of these words and listen to the sound when you edit these properties. Anyway, just try to look at things in a somewhat logical fashion and split up the way a sound is built up in small building blocks or beef patties whatever your imagination prefers, find some meaning behind it all. Also never forget to add lots of delay, phasing and use the arpeggiator. I feel slightly german. Tarsier is a duplicate account that posts random annoying questions on either cheap synthesizers or Moby. He's a gimmick account that's been kicking around for a while now and it's getting really old. Of course, you could be a supporting dup.... pylonbitch
learn about how a synthesiser works. then you'll have no trouble editing your microkorg. and you'll be just like moby, and can touch celebrities with your knob. if you have one. Guest Glass Plate
do "Shift - 3", then read step by step on how to edit a sound, it explains every single feature for understanding in the manual -.-. There is Osc 1, and Osc 2, these are most important, you pick the wave forms you want, then you can do more specific editing of the shape, and alter the rate of oscillation with the various knobs on the top right. There's the "mix" featur on the first big knob, which will let you set the volumes of osculator 1 and osculator 2. There's lots more but I'm sick of explaining that shit's pretty fucking simple. Seriously I figured a majority of the thing out in my first day of owning it, it's fun, but I wish I owned an actual analog keyboard instead.
