Yamaha GX-1 Solo!

extremely unimpressive use of that synth

There's a bunch of similar vids on Youtube of the GX-1, my suspicion is that because it's nearly impossible to actually program (requiring the seperate programing modules and a jewlers screwdriver to adjust cartridges), that people just play around with the stock sounds and shout "HURRRRRRRRRRRRR GXXXXX-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", then go sell it and buy 3 CS-80's.

That mailing list makes me sad...those guys have so much gear, and they make some pretty damn uninspired music....

Ahhh love those bloopy bleepy atari sounds.

Some of these videos remind me of the Andromeda Strain soundtrack by Gil Melle.

Definitely worth checking out if you haven't heard it.

Not only is Laure Spiegel awesome, this demo was amazing. Terrific demonstration of both why digital synths are not bad at all, and why generative synthesis doesn't have to be inane dull and boring. Nice find!
