are they reasonably comfy? I need some that I can wear for like a few hours straight. Things like the ipod earbuds hurt the shit out of my ears after about 10 mins.

For casual use, I use the JVC Marshmallows in-ear earphones... very comfortable, affordable, and fits snugly in the ear and good bass response. Also blocks out a lot of sound around you due to the foam inserts.

i liked the ipod ones

i'm pretty sure if you're not used to wearing earphones they always get annoying the first day or so that you use them cause it takes your ears a bit to get used to tehm

I just got my kids iPods (a 2GB Nano and a 1GB Shuffle) and I just ordered them each some JVC Marshmallows as the iPod earbuds hurt their ears. Try the Marshmallows - you won't go back.

I have the Shure E3Cs. It took me a bit to get used to them but now I find them very comfortable. They come with a variety of earpieces, so you can pick a size that's good for you, or use the expandable foam ones. Very agreeable. (A bit expensive for a listener maybe? . . I bought them for work.)
