Chris Moss Acid
this is absolutly beautiful music! The perpetually unresolved, melancholy strings evoke 1,503 lost souls - not souls seeking the light or crying out or exacting revenge or tickling your spine, but souls simply lost, wandering forever in mournful oblivion. The occasional hints of metallic groaning and muffled voices paint the tragic scene without lambasting us with James Cameron sound effects and screams. Truly, this is a hymn of great beauty and power that accomplishes so much with so little aside the world's other minimalist masterpieces. :cry2: “…from aft came the tunes of the band… The ship was gradually turning on her nose - just like a duck that goes down for a dive. I had only one thing on my mind – to get away from the suction. The band was still playing. I guess all of the band went down. They were playing Autumn then. I swam with all my might. I suppose I was 150 feet away when the Titanic, on her nose, with her afterquarter sticking straight up in the air, began to settle slowly… The way the band kept playing was a noble thing. I heard it first while we were still working wireless, when there was a ragtime tune for us, and the last I saw of the band, when I was floating out in the sea with my lifebelt on, it was still on deck playing Autumn. How they ever did it I cannot imagine.” Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/2181-sinking-of-the-titanic/ Share on other sites

kaini
he was a man heavily involved in the birth of modern improvisational music. the personnel involved in the original performance that stuff is stellar... eno producing, derek bailey on guitar... reads like a lineup of really interesting musicians. you know the techniques involved in the recording? speakers getting slowly submerged, with waterproof mics underwater to capture the lovely super-resonant quality of that substance. mum totally ripped off that idea on 'green grass of tunnel' i'm slowly coming around to the idea of subforums, but agreed - this has no place in the afx subforum, mods.
