Live API

I don't use Live, but aparently, it uses Python as its API. A guy from the Somethingawful forums hacked the python API and got it to run his own code. Now you can to! Command line editing of anything in Live. This also means that you could create complex python scripts to generate sequences in Ableton much the same way you could write Renoise xml files with a script.

Enjoy!

I thought you used the user interface to tell it to do things.

You can, but now you can use Unix or a script, ec to tel it to do things. Right now, you could run the Abe Live telnet server on your copy of Live and I could telnet in to it and start writing music with you via command line. I could also write a script to generate a song based on rules, or generate parts based on parts already in the song, etc.
