luke vibert What software + hardware do you all use to make music?

All my released songs (Nagual & Silke F.) are all from 2001 / 2002 / 2003. At that time I made all this music just with Cool Edit Pro and Native Instruments Reaktor. I had also many wicked cubase plugins. That was it. I used "Musik Maker" as a arranger. Cheap stuff. Didn´t had money for Pro Tools and Metasynth. I didn´t had money for a good soundcard. Used Audigy 2 ZS and before that the Live Soundblaster. This was the next thing after the AWE 32 Soundblaster from 1996 / 1997. My music has a good quality. I used a smart trick. I converted sometimes my music above 300 Khz and played it true a highend reveiver with brilliant treble and bass sound and this I played than again back in the computer ands it sounded almost 1995 like a highendmastering from 2006. Luke Vibert, I think used the same trick. I mean, his music has such a good soundquality, also the stuff from 1994, he maybe did the same thing.

But thats just me. What stuff you do and have?

I use reason 3 and recycle for pretty much everything right now, though i'm looking into using reaktor, it seems like it'd take a lot of time to learn and i haven't the first clue about making synths.

I'm getting abunch of new hardware soon, since right now all i have is a shoddy midi keyboard and a turntable. Once i get all the new kit i might find some reaktor learnin materials and get down to it

buzzmachines, it's very temperamental; and a pain in the ass to sequence & master, i love the sounds you can create with it though. ultimately, that's what matters to me.

soundforge to cut loops, and acid to sequence. i always wanted to check out other software, but don't have the motivation to learn it.

i don't really use any synth sounds or midi anyway, mostly mpc beats and live recordings.

i use digital performer, renoise, reaktor, kontakt, peak, moog modular v, and maxmsp

but i only really use digital performer, reaktor and kontakt mostly.

I insert a bunch of sounds into my document, then click them in an intelligent way.

i hit a biscuit tin with a bread stick and remember what it sounds like, then later on i recreate them sounds with my voice into a mic recording. then i reverse it and put buffer overide all over it.

SOFTWARE:

ACID Pro 6 for the majority of my work.

ReNoise for more complex beat slicing of rendered ACID loops.

Ableton for mixing and live stuff.

HARDWARE:

Edirol PCR-M80.

Looking at getting a Behringer BCD2000.

I've also got an old Yamaha SU-10 but there nothing I really do with it now. Used it mostly for making noise and pissing around when I started it may come to some eventual use though.
