Guest Bad Influence
I've been messing around doing some mixing in Ableton over the past few months, and was wondering. Is there anyway to get a separate cue mix to headphones and then an output to speakers for mixing in Ableton? I want to be able to hear the mix before I drop the next tune in. I've read about it being done with Mac using an iMic but I use a PC. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/22176-cue-mix-in-ableton/ Share on other sites
Guest skytree
Live can definitely cue tracks to headphones before being played on a seperate channel. The main requirement, though, is that you have some way of outputting multiple audio signals from your sound card. Having a PC shouldn't be a problem here, though unless you have two line-out jacks, you'll probably need some sort of external sound card, USB audio device, or firewire mixer. Once you have multiple outputs, you can use the "Cue Out" drop down menu in the Master channel to select which output you'd like the cued signal to play through. Then make sure that the track you'd like to cue is routed into the "Cue Out". This would be a cheap example of a decent USB audio device that would do the job: USB 2.0 Sound Adapter Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/22176-cue-mix-in-ableton/#findComment-459126 Share on other sites
Guest Bad Influence
Alright cheers, that's a lot simpler than I was expecting. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/22176-cue-mix-in-ableton/#findComment-459337 Share on other sites

The link Ivan posted should be really helpful too. One thing to note is that the device I suggested above would work if you could create an aggregate device (meaning a combination of several audio interfaces), as you'll need at least two dedicated stereo outputs. I'm familiar with how to create an aggregate device in OS X, but I'm not sure about Windows. Guest Bad Influence
Hmmm...that case I may just splash out on a BCD2000. I'd be worthwhile with the price of some the audio interfaces I've seen.
