DDR Memory

maybe explain more why this is a choice

does your board support either, or are you comparing systems with one or the other

how badly do you need over 1 gig?

and maybe read up on the latency of DDR2 (and whatever generation it is that you're looking at) and compare that to the DDR

i'd let price decide for me

Well I just got a new PC. My old one only has 2GB DDR but my new one has a motherboard that can accept both DDR and DDR2 but not running together. There is currently 1GB DDR2 in my new PC.

The PC is used to run Logic, Reaktor and plugins aswel as general internet shit.

I would just like to find out if my best option would be to leave the new PC as it is or to put the ram from my old one in there.

well if you have access to both sets of ram then try both and compare.

download some benchmarking tools

i would guess the faster would be more beneficial than the larger, as you would most likely benefit from speed more often than size. unless you're dealing with huge projects i suppose

hopefully for your sake someone brighter than i will chime in

DDR2 has some noticeable advantages over DDR1, it can support higher data rates, so if you are using a core 2 duo to get the most out of your RAM you'd want to get 667. If your new machine is just a Core Duo, 533 will be just fine. You can also get 2GB sticks with DDR2 and it has a lower voltage. Performance wise, unless you are a hardware nut looking at every possible reason to push your system that much further, you wont notice a difference between the two. When my laptop crapped out on me (1 GB DDR2) i had to jump on my server (1.5GB DDR) for ym production and the performance wants that noticeable.
