We are the Crab People

This is the song I'm submitting for that deep sea creatures compilation. It's got percussion made out of sperm whales, various dolphins, snapper fish, and pads made out of a dolphin's sonar. It also features crazy Moog solos. The topic description pretty much sums it up:

Not bad. Needs better defined drums I'd say. Bassline ain't too bad but not 100% grabbing me. Nice pads. Overall nice vibe but a little on the glitchy side for my tastes. Reminded me a little of Wisp too. Mmm didn't massively do it for me I'd have to say. Respect your skill though.

begins basically, too-traditional song structure

when it gets going it's really fine but i would've done it differently

I do like well defined drums. Will give this one a relisten and see if I agree, will tweak accordingly. Interesting you mention Wisp --I've just heard a few of his tracks a long time ago, and while I was making this I thought "I think this is a bit like what Wisp does". It's got that bouncy, wandering melodies thing going on.

I haven't heard that submission rule you speak of. I was just under the impression Fred didn't want the submissions posted in the thread he made for it, not wanting to sort through it rather than just having the files sent to him direct. I think it's better that I post it hear first in case it needs some tweaking, though I'm probably going to send it in very soon, just waiting for Fred to get back to me.

This is one of the best electronic efforts I´ve heard in a big while, honestly. The beats are perfect that the tempo shifting sounds fantastic and sort of "out of place but in place" you know what I mean? Really well done, very psy as I like it.

I do know what you mean --I thought the same thing while I was working on it, and had to listen to it with fresh ears a few times to make sure it wasn't too disorienting. It gets pretty busy. Thanks!

hmm after a few random listens of songs from this board, here's one that grabs my attention while i'm ordering my bedroom. that shuffle rhythm at 1:18 is quite welcome. it was already good before that but then it's even better. the monosynth that follows is great. harmonised synths next do it quite well, too. i love that track's energy and mood. reminds of freeform, in a more busy way (but not too busy). reminds of ochre too, and dorian concept. i hope i'll remember to get each of your posts a listen. as i'm writing this the track ends - will play again for pleasure. :)

edit: second listen. the "whale" ;) intro is great. i mean the first second. it's really good when you like the first second of a track :) now shutting up and enjoying :)

I'm glad to have grabbed your attention. If people are compelled enough to listen a second time, I feel like I've done my job. I heard Dorian Concept at some point and remember liking it. I'll have to check him out again.

I deleted most of the tracks I had posted, mostly because I needed the space to post the newer tracks. I've got one track that I'm working on right now which I'm really happy with, so I'll probably be posting that soon. I can give you a message when I post it if you like.
