Switching to Mac

Recommended Posts

Guest Mental Eclipse

I'm going to be heading off to college soon, and I may need to buy a "Macbook" for digiral art classes. Though I've done all my music on a Windows desktop in the past, I'm considering making the jump to using Mac's exclusivly for everything audio/visual. I've heard lots of people say that Mac's are better for working with digital art and music. What are you're guys opinions on Mac's vs. PC's when it comes to this kind of thing?

Also, the big problem with going Mac for me is that most of my VST indstruments are for windows. Is there any way to run Windows VST's on a Mac?

the os is horrible

the software availability is poor

the service/parts/repairs is obscenely extortianate

they're just blagging they're reputation on the fact that everybody already hates on microsoft

its hard to find free vst sometimes

and warez is sometimes a bit later then xp for ex. live is only available in vers. 5.2 as warez

but when you use full versions its great and also xp runs on it in case you need it

i would totaly recomend it in case you take care for a real high quality product

for nearly every pc program there is a equal one for osx that often works better

bla bla bla, agree to disagree.

the OS is the finest i've ever used (between os9, osx, windows 95/98/2k/xp/vista, netbsd, freebsd, openbsd, red hat, debian, gentoo)

the audio software available on mac is better than on windows in terms of no digital performer or logic for windows, yet everything native instruments makes is available for both mac and pc and about all you won't be able to use on a mac that you could on a pc is fruity loops and sonar and a couple other shitty DAWs. but again, they can't use dp or logic. i'll take dp and logic over fl and sonar any day.

if you pay someone to fix your mac for you yes it is expensive. if you pay someone to fix your pc it is also expensive. macs use the same fuckin parts as pc's so if you fix it yourself it is no more expensive, and if you spring for applecare initially, it's fucking free.

i've had 5 macs and 7 pc's. i support pc's for a living. i like pc's, for gaming. for everything else they can fuck right off.
