Guest Mental Eclipse
I currently don't have a MIDI/USB keyboard for using with "Live", however I heard that It's possible to use your "Computer Keyboard" to play notes within the program. I have the "Keyboard" looking button in the top right of the screen selected, however I can't seem to play anything with my computer keyboard. It seems to recognize when I push a key down but I'm not sure how to get it to play plug-in instruments. Does anybody know how to do this? modey
Not sure if you can do it natively within Live, but you can do it with these: Virtual Piano and MIDI Yoke Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide modey's signature Hide all signatures youtube | bandcamp | soundcloud | twitter | facebook 0F.digital Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/23625-question-about-ableton-live/#findComment-494422 Share on other sites
qnio
1st: press the "keyboard" icon on the right-top of your screen, next to the KEY button. 2nd: on the session view, click the "IN" button of your vst instrument (under "monitor") and select "computer keyboard" or "all ins" from the drop-down menu under "midi from". 3rd: press some keys (asdf...). Guest Mental Eclipse
Thanks for the help. I can't seem to figure out where to go from the "sessions View". I can't seem to find any kind of monitor folder or "In" button. I'm very new to this program so I may be missing something obvious. Guest Iain C
The "in" button, or "arm recording" button or whatever, is to the left of the level slider on the main mixer view. it's a rectangle with a dot in it, below the solo (S) button. It should turn red when activated. If you can't be bothered to read the manual ableton does have some quick and easy built in tutorials.
