I heard that the M-Audio audiophile cards were better, but is the quality really worth another $100+ purchase?

I have used a few m-audio cards and they're good in my humble opinion. The thing you have says it has an audio creation mode which probably means it turns off all the junk that colors the sound (bass boost and spatializing and shit). Plus it has ASIO.

Are you having any problems with it? I wouldn't buy a Creative card but this one doesn't seem too bad at all, at least from the info on that page.

LOL@ USING A CREATIVE CARD FOR AUDIO WORK

don't do it, and stay far, far away.

that bullshit has so much latency, built in processing, coloring, and bullshit. stay far far away and get yourself a proper card, like an audiophile or delta series from m-audio.

huge upgrade as long as you don't need to record or monitor more than 2 channels at a time. I used that very card for a long while. excellent in every way

That's the card I've got. Certainly an improvement over my old SB card on my old pc. That said the mixer it comes with seems odd and I still can't get my head around it. Also I can't seem to record any internal audio through Soundforge etc as you get this weird reverb feedback and shit. I guess apart from that its good but then I wouldn't know what's shit. Sound quality I'd definitely say was a big leap from my old card. Oh yeah and latency was a massive massive improvement over my current pc's internal one and its allows me to play my keyboard in real time and that's extremely important. I'd say go for it as there aren't really any other alternatives at the price.

Unless of course you use ASIO4ALL, then it makes no difference.
