What's worth getting?

Recommended Posts

At the moment I feel like I've everything I need to basically make tunes. I can't buy imagination but perhaps that'll be in the shops one day. But yeah I got a pro sound card, decent pc, keyboard, controller, abletron, vsts, rubbish mixer and a mic. Anything else worth getting as I keep getting harassed about my birthday and I don't really have any material needs as such.

Cheers.

because it leads to a dead end genre? that kind of deadly?

Oh c'mon now, Acid is good fun. Music doesn't have to re-invent music just to be good music. It's also crazy to say there's dead ends in electronic music.

actually, you're totally right!

A good chair is SO important. We spend so much time in-front of our computers, so having a comfy chair that doesn't kill your back is essential. I just bought a super nice leather executive chair that was on sale, and I LOVE it. So much better then the generic office chair I had for 6 years.

An often overlooked, but important studio accessory.

I didnt say dead end genres were bad music. or not fun.

and there certainly are dead ends... I'd say it's crazy to deny that!

its exactly that sort of mentality which causes the deadends. equipment in itself doesnt cause it, there are no deadends other than making the flaw of always trying to make music sound like something or to produce it in a specific way.

Im not going to go on a long explination here. First, what I said was a bit tongue in cheek.

Im not being totally serious... I do think to some extent that equipment is limiting... esp in the wrong hands.

Sure, it can lead to new avenues, inspired by those limitations... but you cant argue that certain equipment limits you in certain ways... and if you have a sound in your mind, and your equipment cant physically make that sound, then you are being limited.

Sure, finding new ways in an old system is great, but I like to think bigger then that, and work with systems that allow much more... so my mind has more control over the outcome, then the gear does.

Again, fine lines, half hearted comments, semantics etc.

Basically, everybody tell that bitch be cool
