Guest boo
i think all commercial VSTs are for pc and mac. i like albino, korg legacy collection, absynth Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/24690-recommend-me-some-soft-synthsvsts/#findComment-521104 Share on other sites
kcinsu
in my personal opinion, I think you should try to minimize the amount of programs you use. Don't go on a downloading/buying (ha) spree... just pick stuff for each thing you need.... a really good synth, a really good sampler, etc. Dont get like 5 different synths etc... learn a few instruments inside and out. so, that said, what all do you want to be able to do? what kind of sounds/capabilities etc? Guest Rook
I am really interested in modular synths right now. And unfortunately, cannot afford a nord modular at the moment (maybe next year) Thats why I was looking at the arturia programs. They arent very expensive and seen to get good reviews. And absynth just looks cool. What I really need are good drum synths, a modular synth, and I dunno, something else, I just need to experiment. Something good for ambient type pads. Actually I just downloaded Crystal and perhaps someone with a mac could help me out. I installed it and everything. But when I click on crystal, it says no default application is chosen or something of that fashion. This is my first mac and I dont really know my way around yet. What application do I choose to open crystal? What application do I choose to open crystal? Crystal is a VST softsynth, not a standalone app, so it needs a VST compatible sequencer to run it. If you open up Cubase and drop Crystal into one of your MIDI channels, it should work just fine. Good luck man. :) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/24690-recommend-me-some-soft-synthsvsts/#findComment-523013 Share on other sites

What application do I choose to open crystal? yeah, you first need to make sure it's in Library>Audio>Plugins>VST - it should have automatically installed the file in there. Now open up Cubase/Ableton/Logic (whatever you use) and go to the preferences, and look for file prefereces, or VST preferences or something of that nature. Tell your mac where to find your VST's (Library>Audio>Plugins>VST) and get it to scan the folder. Once it's done that once, you can just install any others in the same folder and just rescan for new plugins when it's finished installling. Now, in your music software (Logic/Cubase etc), choose either Insert VST, or whatever the command is in the piece of software..... it should now bring up the list of installed VST's! Just choose the one you want! Guest aeser
reaktor if you have that you don't really ever need anything else. it's so goddamn good. i have reaktor, kontakt, moog modular V, max/msp, and a bunch of others. if i could only use one it would be reaktor. or kontakt. but yea, for synths you want reaktor.
