sounding a bit more euphotic than abyssal in the intro. is that intentional? i guess it sounds like you're entering the deep.

this is a bit too piercing and harsh for my tastes. quite cool when it gets more funky.

some years ago (when i actually still had a tv) i saw a documentation about these tiny creatures living in the deep sea. interestingly they make a lot use of light. as there's no natural light anymore they're using it to flash their enemies senses or to attract to their race.

the track is more about the flashing light within such a fight between those creatures, rather than just sense a lone creature moving in the dark.

i believe that staying true to your ideas and imaginations on topics is the key for some kind of retroactive accessibility to your sound, or in this case - mine. i highly respect fred's and the judges work, and so i'm very excited now what kind of music still was in the race. though making a bit annoying (i guess 'harsh' is not of very smooth access) music might lose one of these races ... it gains power to all those seeking on the same path.

thanks for the comment :flower:

I used bits of the same dolphin sonar sample you have at the beginning of your track in mine. Those squeaky bits really disturb me for some reason.

It's like a deep sea cha-cha turned rave.

Beautiful max, I can envision plankton and comb jellies doing their propulsion dance to this, it has a genuinely alien vibe to it and I really liked it overall. Reading what Taboo said, I'd be inclined to agree, the only minor thing for me was that some of the more high pitched digital noises were rather harsh. Extremely crisp and very well mixed but harsh, a tiny bit duller on the EQ on some of the intro noises and this would be less eye watering at points. It's just taste though but a good example would be the brightness of the sounds on Ae's "LP5" and how they are crisp but not harsh. Overall though, this comes close to the images you described of light signaling between these organisms and as the track progresses, the beats become more frantic and weird as I'd imagine. Very interesting work indeed.

i could drop a version without the intro and outro. that wouldn't hurt me much. i wanted to picture that you might need to go outside and into something to discover whats there - so if you already want to be there, well why not have just some dancing creatures... right.

maybe i'll prepare a version :-)
