right, only four new tracks ... sort of a shame, i was very excited when i just saw "freeschaland [2xcd]", and then less excited as i kept reading. and i had already burned their first 3 eps as one full-length cd quite a while ago (this would be their 'best' album, i think, undisputably); still i suppose i'll buy this

in a way its kinda odd to see the lift ep here...as it was already on cd. seeing that on LP would knock my socks off.

just how rare is the pequod ep? i knew i always had trouble getting my hands on it, any word how many copies there are?

yeah i've only seen two copies of the pequod ep for sale, ever ... i ended up paying like $55 for mine

and; the new tracks on freeschaland are pretty disappointing. but the christmas lights mini-album thing is really really good; sort of like ambient outtakes from KFTF

i firmly disagree, the second disc is pretty stellar and bouncy if you ask me. considering that the material is demos and alt. versions of stuff, i think it's totally worthy of release!

hmm, i don't get that. the whole thing moves pretty chronologically, so it makes sense to me.

yeah i don't think there's anything wrong with the packaging per se ... it's just that there's really only two new songs (wcioy outtakes, near the end), and then everything else was either already released or is just a demo version of an album track, invariably a worse version. it's still freescha, and i obviously still bought it, but i can see why the tracks hadn't been released before

Amen break to that; those eight tracks definitely made this a worthy purchase. Thank Jebus I was one of the first fifty customers!

And the packaging for the bonus thingie is distinctly weird, by the way.

it's printed soft canvas, and it was made for attacknine by david tagg, who runs the second sun recordings label with me. we do alot of releases in that packaging, since david designed it himself. and now, attacknine are in a partnership with second sun for all of our digital distribution.

what should I start with for freescha goodness

kids fill the floor and the lift ep

I've dismissed them in the past but on my second listen of kids fill the floor and digging it

not much beats 'pequod' when you're in THE ZONE

yeah when i finally found the pequod 12", that was a good day.

basically i feel like the first three eps and KFTF are some sort of absolute pinnacle of lo-fi electronic music, and then everything after that is interesting and worth buying but not nearly as good

i like the direction they've gone...way more warped and psychedelic, but still keeping enough of that "traditional" freescha sound. they're still a primary influence for me.
