Cylob - Bounds Green

Received my limited CD copy today. Anyone else? If so, what number?

I've only just shoved the disc in my player so will write a review later. So far, it sounds good....

Well, having listened all the way through the album just now, Bounds Green in some ways reminds me of Chris's earlier work on Cylobian Sunset, in particular tracks like Balzouf. Bounds Green feels more restrained and more grown-up though with a more honed sound. Cylob seems very able to put so much emotion and feeling in to his music. This is something that is sadly lacking in a lot of, dare I say it, electronic music. Call it what you want. A favourite so far is the track 'Long...' clocking in at 18:37 with a long pause in between. The last four minutes or so are quite beautiful. Whoever said that Cylobs music was full of dischord or amelodious was so wrong it's untrue. Cylob is good at bringing an almost holy church-like vibe into his music and this is especially evident in the track 'Out' with it's sampled choir voices which put across a Cathedral-like ambience. You could almost see the BBC using tracks such as this in a documentary. The first few tracks are probably the most upbeat and in a funny sort of way remind me of Mouse on Mars or the track 'Dahlem' on the Hotel Morgen album by To Rococo Rot. This isn't to say that this album is acoustic in any way as it's unmistakebly got that Cylob sound. What you won't find though are those vox/vocoder-type vocal effects he's been using on his previous recent releases. Tracks that are currently very appealing at the moment are 'Calling' - a very heartfelt piece which could almost bring you to tears and the aforementioned last four minutes of 'Long...'

you can still order this on vinyl from weme website btw. for anyone looking to pick up new jodey kendrick or monolith or what have you, can always jump back and grab this as well :)

this album is great, one of my favorites from Cylob. didn't hear the new bonus tracks yet though

this album is freaking amazing, i seriously cant stop listening to company
