anyone here use cubase 4?

Recommended Posts

ok, so i just installed cubase 4.

i set my plugs folder as a shared vst folder... so far so good.

i'm experiencing two problems.

one... my waves gold bundle are showing up in the effets list, but under a single heading... waves shell.... and i can't save an effects unit with different parameters to the default.

two... if i use the effects integral to the daw, again, it defaults to the factory set when i reload the file.

now i've tried automating the parameters in a silent part at the start of the track, but while i can see the automation, the sound doesn't quite correspond.

the only workaround i can find is to freeze individual tracks, but that means any further editing will be destructive, and i want to deal with things live before i set them in stone.

any help would be magic.

(i've already tried re-installing the plugs, and updating the vst folder in cubase, but it only gives me the option to set paths for vst2... i don't know much about the difference between vst and vst2, so i'm a bit stumped.

and dpon't rtfm me, cos i have, a bit, and it doesn't seem to be much help.

next stage is a full re-install... i was running a barely legal version of sx3 previously, and i think some residual components from the uninstall might be fucking with the new vers.

i have already updated my audio hardware drivers.

i want cubase 4.

the waves shell problem. ive had that problem. what i do is organize everything like a motherbitch respectively within the shared vst. as far as the other problem im not sure what you mean by ''the sound doesnt quite correspond''

latency? check your device setup, driver setup..

devices are fine, drivers are bang up to date... m-audio delta 1010 updated today.

what do you mean exactly by organize evrything like a motherbitch?

all waves plugs are installed uder c.audio/vstplugins, just like all my other plugs... worked fine in sx3.

doesn't work now.

halp plaz?

edit: as far as 'i can't quite hear it'... delay set to 1/32, actual delay coming through at 1/64.

worked fine until save/reload.

on reload, parameters are right, but sound is wrong.

latency 6 ms.

I used cubase for a while and had nothing but issues with it. Setting change on their own, drivers dissapear. Fucking nightmare. I recommend switching. Prolly not what you wanted to hear, but it's my 2 cents.

Also you might try google discussion groups. If I remember correctly, I was there ALL THE TIME when i was using Cubase. I think the program is just a little shitty. Didn't bother me until I tried Live. I was like FUCK! THIS IS WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE! But it's expensive like a fucker.

Just works though. Good luck with fixing that.... :D
