interesting. I wonder what the 2nd CDs will be - will they be splitting up Substance over the official releases, or will it perhaps be newly released alternate takes/mixes or live recordings?

all of the bonus cds are recordings of live shows:

on Unknown Pleasures the bonus disc is Live At The Factory

on Closer the bonus disc is Live At ULU

on Still the bonus disc is Live At High Wycombe Town Hall

also love will tear us apart is being reissued as a single 24/9 on 7" (with original sleeve & tracklisting) & cd with a different (and highly wrong imo) tracklist

and for those not willing to shell out £120 on the lp boxset the vinyls will be available individually too

jd have been properly whored out now, thanks warners

I see ... I've already got the 4 main CDs (not the Warsaw disk or the live stuff from a few years back), I can't really see myself upgrading for more live material - I really think that, soundwise, JD needed Martin Hannett's production, although of course their visual stage presence - especially Ian's dancing - is something to behold. Maybe I'll replace my Unknown Pleasures, my copy is fucked and skips on Disorder, which might just be my favourite JD song. :pinch:

edit: crikey, peter hook is being mentioned a lot 'round these parts lately ... maybe he'll do a collaboration with phil collins

I decided to buy a JD album today because of 24 Hour Party people. I guess I start with Substance and then buy the two albums when they get re-released. Does that sound about right?

1 . unknown pleasures

2. substance

3. closer

4. still

imo

i have a large JD collection of stuff if anyone wants to buy it - the short circuit 10" a vinyl of the unreleased unkown pleasures, all the singles and various dodgy italian bootlegs.

only kidding - i wouldn't sell you fuckers the steam off my shite.

JD are fast becoming the jeff buckley's of the indie world.

i was thinking the same

i got closer, unknow pleasures and the Heart And Soul box that more that enought for me

I'm slightly new to JD but I'm not liking Hannett's production so much. I like the songs fine, but when I put on headphones I think some of the songs are done a disservice by his production. Anyone else think the same? Or is the production a big part of the appeal for some people?
