Jean Jacques Perrey and Luke Vibert - Moog Acid

the single the released last year was one of the coolest things i've ever heard...

i checked the samples on bleep, and this sounds pretty good. the only problem is that there is still some of that GOOFINESS to it... not sure if i could live with that.

anyone heard this album? how is it after a few listens?

i was expecting it to be a little more PErrey than luke vibert. It sounds like luke vibert made a typical luke vibert album and had Perrey ad some sounds over it, not as much as a collaboration as i would have hoped.

When I checked out the samples there was a whole song based off Frerre Jacques - something I could only see JJ Perrey doing, not Mr. Vibert. But yeah, putting the hip hop and disco beats on it defnitely vibertcizes it a lot.

If you listen to what JJP says on the intro, it sounds like he just gave LV access to his archives to sample wacky old analogue sounds from and that was the extent of the "collaboration"

yeah exactly, it sounds literally like luke vibert sampling his old tapes and frankly making 1 album a month style luke vibert music (not really that quality)

the project basically stemmed from an extended jam session between luke vibert, jj perrey and some dude from lo recordings (forget his name). they jammed, recorded all the sessions and sounds and then luke took those recordings and made songs out of them, sampled them and put together the record. so technically its a luke vibert record with certain elements made and played by jjp. not strictly a collaboration, since luke did most of the work.

John Tye ?

The album title is misleading... it's not really Acid ... which would've been interesting, Acid w/out a 303... some acid sounding stuff is there but not strictly...

anywho, I like this album it's good fun.

the sound samples are damn good. i talked to JJP over his Myspace last year and saw him do his first show in LA a while back. JJP is in big w/ the Mo Wax crew actually and i think they had something to do w/ him coming out to CA.
