That's odd everything for me works fine. Maybe its the Java?

or you have better screen resolution than me, or it could have been that beryl was running and screwing up

Found this cool program, called HighC. It lets you create sound by drawing in different sounds (e.g. sine, square, pulse, saw ect.) like MS paint or something across a piano roll. Its more involved than that but is pretty neat. Check it.

There are a bunch of "AudioPaint" systems, such as Metasynth, Coagula, AudioPaint... Their common ancestor is HyperUpic (http://silvertone.princeton.edu/winham/PPSK/hyper.html).

However, HighC and UPIC (HyperUpic's ancestor) share a common trait: they are symbolic systems; instead of relying on some "inverse FFT" transform. Makes them more versatile, albeit less precise in a way...

As a side note, Aphex Twin, in this Future Music interview, praises UPIC, although it's not clear he actually used it in his albums (he's rather a Metasynth type).

BTW, the newest version (2.1) includes many more examples of use, and more synthesis techniques, such as FM synthesis, ring modulation, granular synthesis...

see and hear it at http://highc.org.

I like it! It's really easy to learn, especially when you read the short tutorial.

I messed around a bit, came up with this

There's no settings for audio output in HighC because it uses the default settings from your system preferences.

Now, no one has ever mentioned an issue with audio output. Can you enter a description of your issue in the support forum?

sounds like an option to rout it somewhere different would be nice. So you could use it w/ sound flower or some such something.
