Mega Man II remixes

Because of Chris Moss Acid's constant uploading and creating of new topics this sort of faded away, but I'm here to pull it back up from deep underground...

Dr W Stage 1 and Mega Melody are both very nice tracks! As a matter of fact I can't really say anything bad about them. The drums match the tracks perfectly. I once tried adding drums to some Nintendo tunes and I failed bigtime. Dr W Stage 1 is a bit too short though, but perhaps the Mega Man tune isn't all that long - who knows? I favorite is Mega Melody though because it's a lot more relaxed than Dr W Stage 1 and the sounds are superb!

I love your NES music. Also loved "Never Knows Best". FLCL reference?

What program(s) does one use for NES music?

Hah, yeah "Never Knows Best" was also made with sounds from FLCL, but just the percussion noises.

We just sampled in the music from Mega Man II and then cut it up a bit, and we modeled the percussion sounds in Sound Forge. Wrote the beats in FL, and did some post production stuff in Sound Forge or Cool Edit [either/or].

For the "Mega Melody" track we used a KORG Electribe SX and an Akai S2000, then programmed everything through Cubase.

Maybe that will give you an idea of what to use. Basically, any sound wave editor and a sequencer.
