yeah man, that track is ridiculous, in the 4 or so years that I didn't have a teacher that track essentially taught me bass, I used to play along to it three or four times a day..

the lead synth at 6 you point out is bass guitar + midi pickup, you can hear from bits like 6.10 and 6.19. Tom has said in a few interviews about using his bass' midi pickup, about how it made more sense to him as a midi controller as his first instrument is bass.

oh, totally. just from hearing it i knew it was synth played via bass...

playing along to it is an idea that had not occured to me, however!! i shall try it.
