hat's max/msp questions thread

okay, finally sitting down to figure out max/msp. i have a pirated version of 4.3, here is my first question:

i am rebuilding the fm synthesis patch here:

as an excercise. i understand how it works, but i do not understand how to set those envelopes up. i see there is a "script-driven envelope" object, but it doesn't seem to have the same number of inlets/outlets as the FM synth example... and more to the point, i can't figure out how to do anything with them.

how do i set up the two envelopes like they have shown there?

max/msp frustrates me to no end.

NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER THIS YET!!!

fact: if someone claims to know max/msp, they are likely lying.

The top graph picture looks like a Filter Graph, and the ADSR one looks like a Breakpoint Function Editor. But I honest can't make head nor tail of MAX/MSP aside from loading Ghostbuster III's autechre patches.

ask mrx or ghostbusters iii....

p.s. i tried maxmsp once and i have no idea what happened but it came out with a lot of random noises.

the envelopes in the example are made with [function]. you can feed it (x,y) point values, or simply draw them in yourself (the former, obviously, being more accurate).

oh, and yeah, the first thing is [filtergraph~].

i know a pretty good amount about msp, if you have more questions.
