Guest maus
hello boyos. figured i'd post this here since there are musician types. i'm upgrading to a more streamlined system so i'm purging my old hardware n' software. it's a lot of money, but it's a lot of gear. the text that follows is from my craigslist ad: Complete Pro Audio setup... EVERYTHING you need! Posting this in the musical instruments section this time, since it's more musical than computer-based. I'm looking to completely re-vamp my studio setup, and as a part of that, I'm purging my old studio as one massive chunk, fire-sale style. Here's what you're getting for your $2500. Read carefully, there's a lot! 1 - Dual 2.0 gHz PowerMac G5 w/ 2 GB of RAM 1 - Dual 3.0 gHz Windows XP box with 2GB of RAM 1 - TC Powercore card (installed in the Mac) original PCI version, including plugins. 1 - Copy of Logic PRO 7. Note: this is an NFR copy (INCLUDING the USB Key, not a crack). This means it will work indefinitely, but DOES NOT qualify for an upgrade to Logic Studio (Logic Pro 8). If you're new to Logic this is a great way to get started, and at the current price, upgrading to 8 is a doddle... 1 - Copy of Native Instruments Komplete 4. This will include the serial number, not just an install-and-leave-you type deal. The real McCoy. 1 - Copy of Native Instruments Kore (also a legit install w/ serial) 1 - NI Kore controller (Original Kore Controller, USB 2.0 w/ audio interface) 1 - NI Rig Kontrol 2 (Guitar controller, also USB 2.0 w/ audio interface) 1 - Copy of the Vienna Symphonic Library (Gigasampler Version) on the PC. This is just the sample content (which is unprotected) and does not include the original installers. (unprotected means you can use these samples forever. copy them and back them up as you wish.) The following software is installed on the machines, but will not be provided with serial numbers or installers. It's up to you to aquire your own copies if you wish to continue using these titles: Gigasampler (PC) OhmForce Plugins (Mac) AudioRealism Bassline AudioRealism Bassline II AudioRealism Bassline Pro All AudioDamage Plugins GMedia IMPOscar Arturia CS-80V ...even more... I will also include a BOATLOAD of sample content. Drum Loops, unique Reaktor-generated content I've created myself, and more. Measuring in the 200GB+ range. This is a phenomenal package if you're looking to upgrade your studio or even if you're just getting started and have some cash to throw around. I have worked for NI and am VERY familiar with all music software and platforms, and will even be willing to give the buyer some consulting hours on me to get up and running, 'cause it's a daunting amount of stuff to delve into. Totaled up (and not counting the stuff I'm not providing installers for) this value comes to over $4000 if purchased seperately (less of course if you count haggling and scrounging for deals). I will personally verify everything works, and, as I said, help you get set up. Quite a deal. $2500 takes it unless people start one-upping each other. I'm looking to buy an all-new setup so I'll be taking any dollar I can get, you understand. I'm NOT presently looking to sell individual parts of the package as yet. This is a complete solution and I would rather sell it as such. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/27835-blowing-out-my-old-studio/ Share on other sites
pylonbitch
$2500 that's like £1250. i can make that in a weekend given the right circumstances. lol. ps... you're selling some computers, not a studio. 'some computers' don't come with audio hardware and a TC powercore card and 300 GB of samples. or maybe you shop for computers somewhere different. c Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/27835-blowing-out-my-old-studio/#findComment-588571 Share on other sites
pylonbitch
no, i just work in various genuinely professional recording suites. edit: allow me to clarify... there's people here who don't know the difference, and what you're selling is categorically not a complete pro audio setup. not trying to be catty. edit again: it is however, a pretty good home studio setup. some noce hardware, and some nice vsts. God, go jack off in front of a mirror with your Clash records hanging in the background or something, fuck. granty
i worked in a real studio once, where they recorded the jingle for 'pc world' - and it stunk of guff! the dude (who was in 'dalek i love you') who wrote it got paid shitloads for each edit because he owned the copyright of the tune. Guest maus
just for the record, my "most watmmers don't make that in a year" joke was... uh... a joke. i know most of you get that, but just in case. besides, i'm included in that. ten fingers, do you think $2500 is too much for all that? i'm basically trying to break even on a mac pro quad which will do everything this setup does... actually i've been working on just my macbook pro wired into a stack of firewire drives and my dynaudio bm-15As... so i want to build a desktop into it. i figure the mac plus the pc plus the legit version of komplete and kore alone is a pretty good deal, plus the VSL... but maybe i'm way off. that's part of the reason i posted actually. oh, and for the record, this is absolutely a "professional" setup, inasmuch as i have been paid quality US treasury currency for music i've created on it. i've consulted for some very talented and very successful film composers who run little more than a dual G5 and a few softsynths and samplers to compose. the tools i'm selling can absolutely yield professional results, and while i'm not trying to jab at loganfive personally, i find that people who scowl at things not being "pro" enough generally are talking quite loudly from their arsequarters. your friendlly neighborhood starving professional musician, c Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/27835-blowing-out-my-old-studio/#findComment-588893 Share on other sites

Well it probably is worth it in totaly, in fact, probably more. I think the big thing is most people aren't looking to buy a large package like that. It will take more time and effort, but I bet you'll get a lot better return by selling everything off individually. So yah, I wouldn't pay $2500 for it not because it's not worth it, but because I don't need 2 new computers, a copy of CS80v, etc.. pylonbitch
it's entirely worth the money. in this case however, i agree with 10f10t that you'd probably get more for it if you sold the items separately. and i wasn't trying to get sand up anyones fanny... generally i try to use my experience to help people here, and have done so for about six years or so. i was a bit drunk, admittedly and being glib, but that really didn't warrant the explosive response i got . whatever. edit: oh yeah, check this link 10f10t. sometimes i don't know, and i'm happy to admiot it. internet. ten fingers ten toes
The word glib just reminds me of Tom Cruise ever since that incident. The word has been forever tainted.
