Found some great Play By Numbers fakes

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to come across some great tracks under the guise of Boards Of Canada - Play By Numbers, the rare-as-hell cassette that we'll probably never hear.

They may be fakes, but I really wanna find their real artists. These tracks made me wonder if there is more BoC-like material out there...

I bring you some one minute-ish samples. the whole Tracks are the same lengths as written on Wikipedia, except Infinite Lines Of Colourful Sevens which is 6:34. Also, the final track "Echelon" sounds the most unrealistic for a BoC track. It sounds so alien to the transquil melodies I am used to from them, and I LOVE it. So dark...

Can anyone identify these? :phone:

these are all BoC yes. They are what some know as OLD TUNES V1 and V2. Remmy Kid is 'fly in the pool'. Wouldnt you like the be free is 'bmx track'. Infinite Lines of Colourful Sevens is Old Tunes Volume 1 track 08 which i dont have a title for, so is possible, but highly unlikely as someone probly just cut up and renamed all of these songs about like a poorly sketched donkey giving birth drawn by an 'artist' bent on rage that BoC hasn't and probly wont give us these damn albums. Numerator is "david came to mahana'im". and Echelon is BoC's remix of a tears for fears song they called "we've started up".

I have and I'm sure many others here have the real 56s clip of Wouldn't You Like to Be Free. There has been plenty contraversy on whether or not some of these old tunes are actually songs from some of the older albums, but these have quite obviously been chopped to length. I and a few others here have the original old tunes, and we can easily vouch for this.

You sir, have been had.

And yes, We've Started Up is dark with a funky bassline, and i've listened to it over and over on repeat in an utter trance beyond emotional comprehension. A ripping good time really.

Looking for some boc-like material? pm me. I found some, and I made some too

Actually, "We've Started Up" is not a Tears for Fears song - it's by another group - I have the info at home, along with the original song.

there is a great fake "The Campfire Headphase"-version out. Dunno how easily found it is nowadays but it's really worth a listen.

I was fooled for quite some time b4 I bought the real tch, got on here and found the early one being hoax shite - broke my heart! ;-U

Learned that this fake is connected with Casey Grabowski + the band "Etchant"..

putting up the whole fake "farewell fire" here, it's really something. If anyone can ID it as something else, do tell!
