Richard D James Album

This album defines the Aphex sound. It never gets old, and nothing lives up to it. If I'm in a bad mood; I can put it on, and I'm not 45 minutes later. Every single song is total classic, but a few are absolutely legendary.

ps I like to think of the original UK LP + Girl/Boy EP as one entity to clear up any US/UK discrepancies.

for me this album defines the utter musical genius of richard d. james. it's my favourite album EVER by any artist. fucking blows my mind in every possible way. it's pure thrill for me to listen to. cornish acid is currently my favourite with it's hypnotizing alien pads to the grooviest acid bassline ever. *goosebumps*

I feel the exact same way about UK LP. I feel like the Girl/Boy EP ruins it a bit.

thinking about this today before i read this poll

it is a classic, probably the best drill album at that time, but still fresh and dynamic today

The RDJ album has some of the catchiest melodies on any electronic music album I've heard. His percussion is so sharp on this one, hurts my ears on headphones sometimes, but in a good way... like tiny knives cutting intricate beats into my auditory canals. Very unique release, quite groundbreaking for its time. Druqs is my favorite all round Aphex album. Some of those prepared piano tracks are absolutely gorgeous, and the beats are just so damn cheeky. It's a hardon of a double album to be sure. I'm still trying to understand what's so great about Analord. This ldpinch track is pretty cool. Interesting detuned synths.
