K2500X - shitting me.

So I've got this keyboard right. I recently changed the batteries in it, and now the fucker won't give me any output. Not even through headphones. I thought it might have been my audio interface (Firewire400) but I bypassed that altogether and it still won't give me anything.

I've read the manual, fucking useless. Anyone got any ideas on here?

yes. it would prompt me with a warning about replacing the batteries.

That really doesn't make any sense then, unless there is some software setting for volume or sound routing that got wiped when you pulled the batteries, but the K2500 has the AA's in a compartment on the bottom right? If you just left it plugged in while swapping then it shouldn't have even wiped the memory.....

You've tried headphones, multiple cables, multiple input jacks whereever they're plugging into..?

yep. it's really fucking confusing me. all the memory settings are the same.

i've tried running through the FW 400, not running through there, headphones, multiple outs, multiple ins...

Well you sure have me stumped here, unless it just up and decided to die on you.

i'm probably gonna have to take it in...i don't have the original floppies anymore...actually don't know if I ever had them, as a friend gave me the unit.

Wonder if they're on any of the zip discs...

It was given to me by a friend a couple of years ago. I mainly use it as a piano and not as a synth. Sometimes as a MIDI controller for playing in melody lines.

And TFTT: the Fairlight and Synclavier were both ridiculously expensive.

Anyways...got too drunk to take it into the shop this weekend. maybe next.

Editing sounds on a shitty little screen is a pain in the ass.

once you get the hang of it, it shows itself to have one of the best commerically available synthesis engines... fantastic machine.. anyway just take it to the repair center

if you're talking about the synth league, as opposed to the electric piano league, the k2500 is ofcourse much much more powerful than a synclavier or fairlight. if you're talking cult status, infamousness (and somewhat interesting new interface) league, the k2500 doesn't stand much chance..

the Synclavier and Fairlight both had very good additive synthesis engines, which the k2500 lacks...

you're gonna put additive synthesis up against the V.A.S.T. system that the Kurzweil synths use?
