hello ylc! it's been a while! i've been too busy working for much music but i've managed to finish this one up enough for bunging on myspace. not much to say about it. this is version 28, its based on another 2 tracks i did one of which was on version 45 before it got dumped and redone into this. it took just over 1 year total, lots of apache and linn drum, lots of synths, lots of swing! it's pretty straightforward and not very 'electronic music' but if you like moogy funk and 'the worm' style leads you might like it. oh and yeah, i've resuscitated my myspace again now.

This is great. Very cool use of compression. Really digging the crafty synth work here. There are parts that are perhaps a bit too clippy, but that may be due to the overall myspace streaming ugliness --I know it's fucked up some of my mixes. That's a great bass line man. This has so much groove to it. Really nice work. I like your style.

The bass tone used reminds me of Sega Genesis (which is a definite positive). Very funky, as the title suggests. I don't have anything really about the actual tune to say, other than its ridiculously fun and catchy. That bass line is wicked, as stated by Mr. Nova. The only thing I didn't quite love was the actual mix. It just seemed too spacey for me, I feel like this tune would be better presented more "in your face", so to speak. Everything just kind of felt buried in the mix, I would rather have that bass line and percussion be in the front smacking me head on and have the moogy-ish leads just kind of filling everything else in. Just my $.02

I would really like to hear some more of your stuff, ace work!

stylistically not what i'm into, but i can appreciate the production here... i actually think the compression needs work... too much pumping... it messes with the flow of this track. it IS funky though.... i think if you layered some lower frequencies under your main synth line once in a while it would sound really nice.

anyway, good work... keep it up!

cheers folks, the 'compression' that i think you're talking about is the sound of me accidentally leaving chorus on part of the bass line which made weird volume and bass harmonic changes + a tiny bit of clipping. i had a choice of 2 and upped the wrong one, d'oh! too lazy to re-up! the myspace streaming kills everthing a bit more than i'd like, kinda hard to make out much about the production but it's not quite tidy enough to let loose as a download.
