ASR-X PRO

I'm thinking of getting a new sampler, and a friend of mine sang praises of the bright red ASR-X Pro. Anyone have one (or use one in the past) that could give me some thoughts on it?

i am completely ignorant in this field, what does it do that can't be done with software?

Probably nothing, if you've got enough [k]s. Personally, though, I tend to have a better time writing hard beats on hardware. Getting real ass-heavy kathunkthunk kicks in particular, and feeling like all the tones are "mine." I'm something of a tactile mofo.
