they should have an alternate weather channel that plays free jazz.

This is the US Weather Channel (I'm assuming you really are in NZ). They play really bad smooth jazz over their local forecasts. You really have to spend alot of mornings hoping for a snow day to be in on the hilariousness of such a compilation.
