Album naming convetion question

Recommended Posts

so the ae albums have a naming convention that notes which album it is.

incunabula = first (in book terms or something like that)

amber=second light on the traffic lights

tri repetae= three

chastic slide = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiastic , related to 4

LP5

draft 7.30 = 7th album

untilted= 8 letters, but might be a coinkydink

so where does confield stand?

I have always wondered why Confield's catalogue number is WARP CD/LP 128 and Untilted's is WARP CD/LP 256, while Draft 7.30's is WARP CD/LP 111...

128*2=256

111 is 7 in binary.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Where would Quaristice stand as #9?

The Number 23: Autechre Edition

starring Jim Carrey as Rob Brown

i could tell that movie was a pile of it without even seeing it - i was so glad it bombed. there are other films that do the job much better, they just don't mention 23.

Confield starts with VI Scose Poise. 6 is written VI in roman numerals.

ah that makes sense cause i always thought that was a pun on:

viscose poise... viscose-ity being sort of how gelatinous a liquid is, and poise(es) being a unit of viscose-ity. so that's why they changed it to the roman numerals.

autechre albums are actually thixatropic

Guest hahathhat

i remember plenty from 7th grade/freshman high chemistry, but i actually learned the word thixatropic from my sister. she's probably going to wind up being a biology or chemistry researcher...

maybe i should try to get her into autechre. for a chemistry class she was taking in college, they had everyone get these scinece-grade tinkertoys that you put together to make models of molecules... she was complaining about them, how fiddly they were - she said that she found it much easier to visualize it, close her eyes and build the model in her head.

i never cared much for the hard sciences; i was always more engineering-oriented. a lot of that is closing your eyes and designing machines in your head, which i find immensely satisfying. so, i was beside myself with happiness to hear that her mind worked like that too, even though she was interested in entirely different things.

i have a feeling that knack (and love!) for visualization is present in a lot of autechre fans.
