pcock
to fill up this forum with my nooby troubleshooting problems any more than i already have done, but ive got a small problem that i couldnt google. i want to midi up my keyboard, through my interface, with also a drum machine and orbit synth all at once, so that i can switch between the drum machine and the synth easily in my computer, but i cant for shite figure out which way the cables go. my common sense predicted this: keyboard Out, to In on saffire, out from saffire to in on drum machine, out on drumamachine to thru on synth, out on synth to In on keyboard. but no results thanks if u can be arsed helping. pylonbitch
presumably the saffire is your midi card? midi out(synth) to in on midi card midi in (synth) to midi out on midi card. midi thru on synth to midi in on drum machine. set up synth to accept midi thru commands. midi thru on drum machine to midi in on orbit synth. (you can do this the other way round if your drum machine doesn't have a thru and your orbit synth does.) go. pcock
wait, is this only going to work if my midi keyboard has thru, because it doesnt. everything else does though. pylonbitch
why not just use the satellite synth as your midi input keyboard then? Guest hahathhat
if you've already googled for an answer and made a reasonable attempt to work through it yourself, i don't think anyone has any right to bitch you out about stupid questions. what goddamn shitting program are you speaking of? pcock
ableton. i really do try, so hard, to find answers for myself, but every single fucking thing to do with compuyter music presents about 12 new problems. all google/ableton help suggests is that you need to turn off 'autowarp'. great. easy peasy. but not when it still fucking puts the markers in no matter what. and then ywhen you manually delete the markers, your left with a piece of music that has been unevenly stretched over a range of about 150 bpm. pcock
well i suck dick at life, all i had to do was click one option on right click. il leave this thread here for tommorow, when i get infuriatingly stuck by yet another stupid one click solution problem. pcock
probably gonna end up killing myself. today, i opened up cakewalk sonar to 'warning, the following drivers either do not support the current audio format are in use by another application'SaffireProplus'. ok. irritating but i think that because ive just installed ableton its probaly just ableton hogging the interface. go into ableton, disable all use of it using my interface, try again. WARNING. try out cubase, see if i can get it to work through that. thats broke too, registers that the saffire is there, plenty of options for my midi outs and ins, but no sound. no matter how many options, i change no sound. ive uninstalled ableton, stopped every single process on my computer that isnt a system process, uninstalled cubase, changed all options in cakewalk to see if they work, restarted my pc about 12 times, changed between ASIO and MME or what the fuck they are, reinstalled my drivers, finally i reinstalled cakewalk. nothing. just out of the blue, im not gonna fucking work any more. but its still running my computer noise fine, winamp and that. ive gone past the point of being annoyed and just assumed that some kind of higher being just does not want me to write fucking music. any ideas? pcock
well cakewalk is great for putting large passages of musical work into midi form, the stave function is 12 times better than cubase, putting hundreds of compact notes in cubase fuckin ruins it. but cubase is quick and smooth to use as a sequencer, so i interchange those two as a i compose, and ableton i use because i have to do mixing for college, its also pretty fun to do stuff like record a bunch of flicky show off piano shit in seperate key signatures, then write pieces of music using different texztureed passages organised by the key signature. but they are currently all styill broken :( Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/28896-sorry/#findComment-613535 Share on other sites
