Richard used the Synton Fenix, SH-101, MC-202, TB-303, TR-606, TR-707, TR-727, TR-808, TR-909, MC-4, EML-400, Elka Synthex, and Modular gear (Doepfer, Blacet, Analogue Solutions, Elektor Formant Modular, etc.). Many other vintage pieces were undoubtably used...I'm thinking old Korg MaxiKorg, Roland SH-5, Synclavier, Yamaha GX-1 and 70's era vintage analog synths. Analog Sequencers were used such as the SAM-16, SQ-10, Doepfer MAQ 16/3, and others. In the past he has used Yamaha Disclavier Piano, Shortwave Radio, Tape Machines of different kinds, Answering Machine, Memorymoog, EMS VCS3, EMS Synthi 100, Akai S3000XL, Arp 2600, Roland System 100M, Roland System 700, Yamaha DX-100, Yamaha DX-7, Oberheim Matrix-1000, Korg MS-20, Casio FZ-10M, Roland R-8, Boss D110, Sequential Circuits Studio-440, Future-Retro Revolution, rare drum computers, drum triggers, prototype synths. and Atari ST1040 running various Sequencing Packages such as Notator and Cubase. He used Macintoshes up until 2001 and used Pro-Tools, Max/MSP, Supercollider, Cubase, MetaSynth, Logic-Audio, Composer's Desktop running through Virtual PC, and various plug-ins like Altiverb... Also used customized software which was made by various academics including spatialization software, and sampling softwares. These days he uses a Sony Vaio mini-laptop using various bits of software like Abelton Live, Cubase, Sample Robot, and a wide variety of plug-ins of all kinds. Many don't consider, but he also has a wide variety of very rare and expensive outboard gear such as old reverbs, tape delays, phlangers, a collection of vintage preamps, vintage microphones, EQs, old military equipment...not to mention his converted bank which has pretty wicked real reverb as well More pieces are used as well, many pieces customized or modded. In short he's used everything wicked, but that doesn't even really matter. He made some of his clasic tracks in 1985 in his parents basement with just a real minimal setup, human emotion, good taste and imagination.
