Old Tunes Vol. 2: Bitrate?

What was the bitrate of the leak of Old Tunes Vol. 2?

I have the 320K of OTV1, but every copy of OTV2 I find is 160K.

Is this the best available?

Yes - I'm sure it's debatable that a higher quality rip would even sound any better at 320K, we're talking about Old Tunes here...

The 160K copies I've downloaded (from Soulseek, eMule, and from a website) have all been the same.

But, there's a "scene" release from 2003 called:

Boards_Of_Canada_-_A_Few_Old_Tunes_Vol. 2-2003-RFL

which is fake, but the tracks from Old Tunes Vol. 2 on it are much better sounding than on the OTV2 copies I found.

This has probably been mentioned here before, but I can't find any mention of it.

Maybe some one could compare it with their copy from OTV2. This version sounds much better than anything else I could find, and it seems that it's not simply lifted from the original 160K Soulseek leaks.

There are 17 OTV2 tracks on this and they seem to be from a different (much better) source than the 160K tape leak. Weird.

its ripped from tape guys, plz stfu debating bitrates, like it matters.

Who knows what bitrate the original leaks were, suffice to say they have been transcoded to every bitrate and format from wmv to flac. but back when this stuff first leaked, there was a leak that was marked as a CD compilation of old tunes v1 and 2 (I believe) which had noticeably better quality that the tapes. It did not include a complete copy of either tape.

well if you have some old boards of canada tunes ripped from cd with a better sound, upload man, upload!

btw i did listen to some of these the other day & i dont think the whole old tunes are worth releasing, obviously many track are not as good as the later records.

lol if you think that 320kbs rip is pure ur fooling yourself/ probably been reformatted a million times over/ if it was a lossless format it obviously wouldnt matter...

They were recorded of a cassette tape. We're not talking lossless WAVs here, guys. Mine are 160/192, and they were probably lower than that in the first place.

Also, your tracklist seems to be quite mashed up. It lists stuff from AFOT and OTV2, in something mockery of an order.

Also, this stuff is obviously quite personal to BoC, and you're not actually supposed to have this stuff.

I don't get it. If this is off a cassette how come the frequency response is much higher than 12KHz, as is evident simply from, eh, having ears.
