Guest meneedit
hey guys, for those who are electro-house fans (and i hope that there are at least a few here), you will be familiar with the technique of gradually increasing the release on a synth until the melody plays constantly/seamlessly. Lately I have been trying to accomplish this in Fruityloops but I have had no luck. Lets use the '3xOsc' as an example because that is what I am using to try this technique. The problem that I have is that once the release reaches a certain value the notes overlap each other due to the obvious fact that a new note is starting before the previous one has released. Now even if I use the decay to do it instead of the release, a slight gap can still be heard inbetween notes. Please help me to solve this problem Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/29916-seamless-synthplay/ Share on other sites

Please help me to solve this problem i would say turn the polyphony to 1 (as in monosynth) and then do the "release" thing. Then the notes CAN'T overlap. Guest margaret thatcher
yeah, you need a mono synth really...or use jeskola buzz, i don't think you can have overlapping notes on that unless you program it to do that. Guest analogue wings
Samples? Without hearing the exact trick you mean, I would suggest assigning portamento time to an envelope or RTC and having a play with that. But yeah, your synth should really be in mono mode for starters. Guest blicero
monosynth + a little portamento perhaps? Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/29916-seamless-synthplay/#findComment-638963 Share on other sites
Guest greenbank
can you not just play longer and longer notes instead? just change where the release STARTS not how long it is or am i not getting the specifics of what you want? that way you just have a small release that overlaps slightly at the beginning of new notes and that should do the job, plus then the release distance can be made constant so you can have any note length but exactly the same controlled amount of overlap. qnio
hmm i think it's not the release knob. try this: in the amp envelopes, leave sustain & decay all the way up. do this with the filter env. mod. too*. then... in the filter envelopes, leave sustain all the way up, but no the decay knob; when you gradually turn up the decay, it'll sound as the notes are kinda overlapping. there's this vitalic remix that illustrates what i believe you're trying to achieve: Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/29916-seamless-synthplay/#findComment-639030 Share on other sites
Guest Laughable Butane Bob
blicero said: monosynth + a little portamento perhaps? This. Basically what you want is called "glide." Only some synths are equipped to handle it. Get the MS-20 VST and play around with that.
