kcinsu
http://access-music.de/snow/ Exactly the same as the TI, except on 4 parts instead of 16, 2 ins, 2 outs, and a consolidated interface. Still totally integrated. Nice. kcinsu
nice, it comes with a carrying case. and 3 additional stereo outputs, when using the USB for audio. acid1
Wow! Lets see what kind of price tag they put on it then we might have to talk business. I was playing with a polar in guitar center last week and it was very hard to leave. Infact some poor soul was waiting for me to get done with playing with it but after an hour he gave up and left. I fell in love with that synth. If this thing is 1000-1500, it may be well worth it. kcinsu
if its under 1000, then its on. I mean, the desktop TI is only 1800... so I think this would need to be under 1000 to make it worth it Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/29939-new-virus/#findComment-634072 Share on other sites
acid1
It also is claiming its the "cheapest virus yet" which makes me wonder if that includes the Virus Classic that runs for 1000. I always really liked the concept that I could open it as a VST in my sequencer and it would re-open the program and tweaks I made to it. Did you check out the Waldorf Blofeld? kcinsu
I actually just noticed it says "the cheapest VIRUS TI yet" so maybe it won't be cheaper than the classic. Yeah, I've seen the Blofeld. Looks like the TI will give them some stiff competition, especially since the Virus is kind of the big name of synths these days... waldorf has an uphill marketing battle I think. But personally, if I can get the Virus sound, in a small, portable, and cheap package like that... man it's tempting. Must be less than 1000 to make it worthwhile for me though. If I break the 1000 range, then whats 800 more for 16 parts, over 4, and a more in depth interface? acid1
Yeah I totally agree. The Snow is nice but you might as well get the Desktop if its pricy. Plus it only has half the DSP engines, RAM, and ROM. The fact that it kinda looks like a TB-303 is kinda cool tho :P Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/29939-new-virus/#findComment-635145 Share on other sites
kcinsu
I'm surprised that there aren't more people chiming in here... I heard a rumor that this will be going for around $700. Nothing to back that up, but that would be awesome. It would be great to move to the modern sound engine, but I really would miss all the knobs. Brandi_B
Looks like: $1.350,00 from: http://www.gearjunkies.com/news_info.php?news_id=2552 Pricing & Availability Virus TI Snow will be available in Spring 2008 through authorized Access dealers worldwide. Suggested retail price is: 1100.- (Incl. 19% MwSt) / $1.350,00 Not a big virus person myself. Nothing against em, they have great sounds and felxibility, not to mention a decent interface. There's just other stuff I'd rather buy (G2, Poly Evolver, more ram). And for that price I'd rather get the full version TI used on ebay. For small boxes like these I'd go for the Waldorf Blofeld if I didn't have an xt and komplexor (Q software emulation). But it's happy news for virus fans that like compact desktop modules! kcinsu
Well, I certainly do rate the G2 higher (I own 2 of them!) But I do find myself wanting to have a go-to standard kind of synth, more and more these days, and the Virus is beautiful designed to be just that. That is horrible news about the pricing though... you are right, at that price, I would most definitely either ebay the full TI, or just save up a bit more for a new one. What a shame... so much potential. acid1
All that price did was make the Desktop version seem more attractive.
