Fucking quality movie, daniel day lewis fucking annilates the movie in the 2nd half. its a slow builder but the quality of the soundtrack moving the scenes around, cinematography and acting make the whole movie enjoyable without a doubt. its hard to find on teh intranets I had to watch a slow buffering stream from a japanese site and the rip is kinda tweaked at the end but it was worth it. So fucking raw, so fucking raw

grammaticly ambitious, yet an incredibly lazy boring interjection into a thread refrencing an interestingly entertaining peice of art, the contrast potrayed is truly amazing.

the rip i saw seemed to have some scenes missing, so in the end i wasn't really able to piece together the story at all. i liked what i saw, but i have no idea what it was about...i think all the scenes with actual plot progression or hints about what i was supposed to be taking away from it got skipped over. several times there was a skip in the movie and all of a sudden he was on the ground and people were trying to wake him up and i was like...uhhhh, huh?

so yea, i think i need to see it again, but damn...it was long (and i didn't even see everything)...don't know when i'm gonna have the time.

i was expecting it to be a lot worse, considering how precious a lot of p.t. anderson's work comes off, but i honestly wasn't even conscious that it was his direction during the movie, so that's a big plus in my book.

Saw this in a theatre last night.

The movie was just decent, but Daniel Day-Lewis was absolutely compelling. Even in wide shots and group scenes the camera was always on him. He carried the movie from start to finish. Paul Dano was ok as the preacher kid, but was ultimately nothing but a foil for Day-Lewis.

Yes, the ending was tacked on, but who didn't see that coming?

It's always fun to watch a movie where the primary character is the bad guy - and you root for him anyway.

The score was good, but not incredible; it helped with the mood of the film more than anything else.

Highly, highly recommended as the antidote to all the Hollywood schlock coming out nowadays!

yah exactly without DDL TWBB wouldnt have been that fun to watch. It was definitely slow moving, the score wasnt exactly dynamic but it definitely set the mood off well enough. I loved the ending it could be seen as tacked on but DDLs performance was gangster. I watched the rip with scenes fucking up everyone and a while but i was able to grasp what was progressing without too much confusion.

Some of the shots were soo quality but mostly TWBB just made me fully comprehend how raw DDL is. makes me wanna watch gangs of new york again... but yah im ignorant to DDLs other gangster ass roles, anyone got any suggestions?

not that im a huge fan of his work, but i do hjave a lot of respect for the director for making such a different movie than his previous films. I'd rate it only higher than boogie nights, but daniel day lewis should definitely win a 2nd oscar!!

I think the movie's great. Especially the shots at the beginning are beautiful. And Daniel-Day Lewis' acting is good.

Jonny Greenwood's score is marvelous (Open Spaces).

yeah, the music didn't seem to fit the movie to begin with, but in the late second half, it it seemed to make sense in retrospect. I missed the ending though. :/
