harsh noise attempt

hi, ths is very different from the usual ambient stuff i make. influenced by my recent obsession with noise artists/groups - merzbow, hanatarash, masonna, etc.

i would like to know what you guys think. too harsh? not harsh enough? although i guess if you don't like the genre to begin with, you most likely won't like it. just felt like tackling a different genre, but in a lot of ways i suppose it's similar to ambient music. both generally formless..

its not _all_ noiz though. i throw in a somewhat melodic bit at around 2:40, but i'm not sure if it goes well w everything else. please let me know.

Well if you're going for harsh noise then it's not intense enough.

The highs could be a lot more piercing and the lows could be a lot more earth shaking.

Why can't noise be melodic? I liked the melodic part the best. Extending it and adding some more layers in the high and low end could make it pretty epic.

ahh thanks for the tips. i just listened to it again after listening to some proper harshnoise, and you're right - it really isn't very harsh! i am definitely going to add more layers. it sounded alright to me, because i think i had my speakers bass set to max haha

I agree entirely with Basi if you're gonig the ultraharsh route. Also needs lots of compression!

But really I like it as it is more than anything I've heard from Merzbow, and I do appreciate Merzbow. The melodic section was rad.

this was a refreshing change of pace for me

usually the most noise i hear is in breakcore

don't often listen to just noise qua noise

needs more... well noise! add some more white noise flavors to it and try out a WAH pedal on that channel. That's merzbow's secret, white noise through wah pedal... trust me
