Bad habits

What sort of bad habits have you fallen into with music composition????

One of mine is that I seem to start every track with just a beat, whereas when I first started making music I used all the different starters.

i.e

-Just a melody

-Melody and beat

-Just a beat

-FX

Anyway, tell me about something you wish you didn't do with your songs.

My bad habit is being to lazy to work on tracks. Tonight I will. I promise.

I'm not sure if I have any bad habits. I tend to throw a lot of songs away if they don't sound instantly promising, though.

Never finishing tracks. I've got tons of half written promising songs just sitting on my desktop. Right now I think I'm working on five different ones at the same time. And that's just my computer based stuff. In my rock band I've got 4 on the table. I need to learn to do them one at a time so that I can churn them out faster and focus my attention.

ditto for me. it's doubly aggrivating, because i know i DO have the grit to keep on this shit, but often life makes it impossible. just because i can sit at the computer for 30 hours straight doesn't mean circumstances allow me to...
