Brandi_B
Quote On January 24, 2008, members of the development team at Clavia began the process on updating the editor and the drivers for the Nord G2 Modular. The team are working simultaneously on a Vista driver and an Intel compatible Mac version of the editor. We cannot estimate on a release date yet, this will be announced later. The Vista driver and the Intel-compatible editor will be available as a free download on this website when they are completed. from: http://www.clavia.com/main.asp No specifics whether they will add any new modules or not (doubt it!). Thought I'd pass it along since there's some Nord users here. Aside from that it's nice to see one of the best "boutique" synth companies still sticking by their products. As we delve deeper and deeper into computer based, or dependant synths there's bound to be a breaking point where a lot of these companies fold or have to be bought out in order to keep up dev. teams and top notch programmers. Nothing worse than having a flawless program only to be unhinged by a computer OS compatibility update that screws it up. Used to be synths died out when so and so capacitor wasn't made anymore. Or I guess as far as analogs go, they started dying when digital made it big in the 80's, but its made a comeback (analog that is). Digital is still goin strong eh. Once they figured out it was a smart idea to put an analog style interface on them (thanks in a large part to the nord lead 1). Hoping for a G3 w/ sampler and usb audio transfer. Don't really care about streaming usb audio but if it had sample capability, usb transfer would be beneficial. I really want a G2 bad, but if I were to buy one I'd want a G2x and they are getting harder and harder to find! kcinsu
yeah, clavia had told some people at electro-music.com that they werent going to update the drivers/editor, and everyone freaked out. a bunch of people (myself included) emailed clavia asking them to reconsider. a few weeks later, they posted this update info. im glad they came to their senses... they fucked over the NM1 users, and if they had done it again, it would have really tarnished their image I think. so, Im happy that the life span of my synths just got increased.... yay! I hope that if they make a g3, theyll make a rack version... not like the engine... but just the control section... just knobs and buttons and LCDs. best. interface. ever. yeah... the g2x is out of production.... best bet is ebay. Brandi_B
Yeah support of the editor for the nm1 sucks but the worst thing I think is that they didn't make the g2 backward compatible. I think they would've sold a lot more g2's when they came out if they had. I know someone wrote a program to convert nm1 to g2 but you're missing some modules and i've read that it isn't always a complete match up (still better than nothing). I agree they should put out a rack with the same interface if they did a g3. Wish they had done it with the g2 since a lot of people don't want another kb in their studio but will be happy to have a rack unit. I can't wait to get a g2 and use the midi modules with kontakt and make mah self a g2 sampler. Wish it had 2 more sets of in outs, whatev :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/30976-clavia-to-update-nord-g2-to-vista-intel-mac/#findComment-659587 Share on other sites
ten fingers ten toes
Well the good news for NM1 owners (me!) is that Nomad works pretty well. It's not 100%. I hate that it doesn't function like Clavia's editor with regards to editing patches while in "limbo memory" or whatever they call that "--" memory location. It sucks having to click upload every time you add a module. Still though, it works great in Linux so Im happy.
