Ok i've just been listening to EP7 again

i have not listened to it for ages, like 2 years or so.

i cleaned my bedroom and played it twice and wow! it's so damn brilliant actually!

reminded me lots of memories. ace album

Agreed, underrated album. The last 4 tracks are just brilliant.

On it's way to being one of my favourites.

Like LP5, but more technical and alot darker.

It's pretty good but far from being among their best material, imo. Rpeg is the shit.

i've said it before, but maphive 6.1 is totally prog electronic music.

Yes, last four tracks are pretty much better than anything on Confield imo.

Indeed... my first, and still favorite autechre disk.

as much as i've been ranting and raving about untilted since it's been released, ep7 is better imo... ccec is one of my faves... the bass is on point!

dropp also is one of my faves!

Nobody ever explained why they seemed to hate Left Blank so much in the last thread.

i love left blank, one of my favorites on that disk, along with Liccflii (which has a similar sound)

does the WATMM collektif hate outpt? i've always liked this track

I love ep7, it has so little baggage compared to LP5 for some reason. It seems like the tracks are connected to eachother. My mind usually fuses Rpeg, Ccec, and Squeller together, and thats a great refreshing start to the album. Then there's Left Blank, Outpt, and Dropp, which are all brilliant. Liccflii stands on its own with it's abrasive sounds, but I can still enjoy it. Then the last tracks are the true genius of the album. Maphive 6.1 is one of the funniest tracks Autechre has made, its super enjoyable. Then Zeiss Contarex comes...I am so into the last minute with the repeating vocal sample, its so dark and awesome. Netlon Sentinel has one Autechre's best melodies ever, in my opinion. And then the album ends on Pir, which I have no complaints about.

Rpeg was the most immediate track but theres better tunes on it.

The last two minutes of Left Blank is the best thing on EP7, closely followed by Squeller and Liccfliii. Left Blank is even better on the live bootleg (the warp party gig 2001).

Am I the only guy here who thinks EP7 is not wonderful?

outpt was the track that grasped me back in the day... also, i used to dj back then and it was one of the easier tracks to mix into a hip hop set!

Netlon Sentinel is the perfect "Ae in a nutshell" track for me, this condensed, ideal version of Ae in pop song format. I think of it in the same way I think of Aphex Twin's "Flim". I would give it to a first time listener sooner than I would give Gantz Graf, which many people said sounded like a condensed, one-track version of Confield.

I tend to group the songs together in my mind as well (particularly the last few). This one just gets better and better as it goes.

Anyone know why it was called an EP? It's a pretty good sized chunk of music. I'd put it among my favourite ae albums with LP5 and Confield.. those were the days yes?

A short while ago I was excited to download the bonus "secret track" that could allegedly be found by rewinding from rpeg (?!)... it's pretty much just a noise track, nothing special.

where does the split occur? I would think between dropp and liccflii, or liccflii and maphive. Maphive feels like a turning point.

Yes, Ep7 is quite good. Yes, mmmm yes it is. Second half is of course better than the first half but I believe that has already been established.
