This thread needs some appreciation, if it wasnt 4 hours till i had to get up that would be a good read!

It might take 4hrs to read them all

Hope you enjoy guys. please, feel free to distribute - a lot of these interviews are form sources that arn't online anymore / peoples soulseek collections. it'd be cool if they didnt disapear completely...

thanks for the doc, i was scouring the net for interviews a month ago, may be some more you haven't found yet

This is indeed true - but I'm getting ready to rectify that shortly...

watmm (or any of it's subsites) are not coded for IE, so if they don't work, then upgrade to FireFox or Opera. I'll support IE when IE becomes standards-compliant with current CSS and XHTML.

Just finished reading all these. really great stuff, thanks very much to theflame.

I have a few unanswered questions someone might be able to answer (but I doubt it):

What was the track on Joyrex J5 that was recorded in the same session as Digeridoo?

Who really is I.G.-88 on Rephlex?

How come if Warp owns the Aphex Twin name, the initial pressings of Analord 10 were credited to Aphex Twin (was it just Rich being sneaky?)

What the fuck is the status of the Caustic Window album? Those descriptions make it sound really intruiging, SAW 85-92 outtakes etc. I imagine it will stay unreleased, but the fact that it was almost released but then pulled suggests there is some hope for the future when Rephlex need more $

I'm not quite sure what in reference you're asking this - was there some trivia-like question in one of the interviews about this? the Joyrex series and Digeridoo were all done around the same time period (1990-1993) so it's quite likely Richard did some of the Joyrex tracks before Digeridoo, or after, or at the same time. Only he knows for sure.

While Grant will tell you IG88 is a bounty hunter droid from Star Wars, it was an alias used by him at one point. The "G" is a probable hint too

Richard owns the Aphex Twin name, he just has an agreement with WARP to release stuff on their label as Aphex Twin. Since the Analord 10 binder was under 1000 copies, I think he was OK in terms of any potential conflicts with his contract with WARP. I can't vouch for the Analord 10 picture disc though, but I think nowhere on that are the tracks credited to Aphex Twin. The upcoming Chosen Lords CD comp of the Analord tracks is credited to AFX, so either the association has changed for the two Analord 10 tracks, or he's playing it safe.

The unreleased Caustic Window double album (CAT023) exists in 4 test pressings (although it is rumoured that more might exist) that are in the possession of Richard himself, Grant, Cylob and Mike P (µ-Ziq). The only tracks ever to see a commercial release from that release are Cunt and Phlaps that both appeared on compilations. I highly doubt Richard will ever release it or AB5 - he seems more keen on releasing material he's interested in rather than trying to please fans by releasing old material he's not fond of anymore. Just a guess though - Richard could turn around and release it, and I reckon it would do quite well as the tracks are fairly good (according to Mike P).

Wow infoburst. Thanks Joyrex.

The article I was refering to was the Bassic Groove article:

'Besides "Digeridoo" there appear to be five more tracks from the same session on the shelves, but Richard says that for now they're too "dangerous" to release! Nevertheless one of these tracks will probably be on the Joyrex J5 EP'

Also I'd like to hear some of Grants stuff. *cranks up Soulseeks shaft*
