soundcard noise until i open ableton

is my card fucked? or is it a settings problem? i get this weird low scratchy kinda sound all the time but when i open ableton it goes quiet. only ableton stops the noise currently. any ideas?

hmm this does ring a bell from previous investigations i made into why my pc wasn't booting.

i think i did turn this on.

and did what it said in terms of device manager disabling but i haven't tried the jumpers yet. it would be unlikely to be jumpers though as the motherboard is new and not the one i tinkered with before. i shall dg out the paperwork though and try.

Is Ableton outputting audio via ASIO ? If so that could be why it's disabling any non ASIO sound sources.

certainly stopped my odd computer noises when using onboard sound. i just muted it through control panel > sound > advanced.

try muting every stuff one by one on your volume control and see what's causing it!

ah good thinking. worked too. muting "Auxilery" shut it up. not sure what that is exactly guess we'll see if anythng else goes silent.

it's normal, it happens on every compuetr i've touched, either CD or AUX

it might also be electrical interference caused by faulty grounding. try one of those 3 prong to 2 prong electric plug converters. that helped me out of a similar problem.
