a midi question about the korg esx1

We've got all these patterns in this korg esx1, and it's not listening to use when we send back the program change data it spits out when it changes patterns. The filters are wide open.

Anyone got one of these and know the trick?

it only accepts program msgs on channel 16... didn't know that.
