woofer
I'm a long time drummer thinking about getting an electronic kit for electronic composition and the like. There seemed to be a lot of options last time I looked into electronic kits (several years ago) - triggering systems with sample databases. I'd guess at this point on could probably develop sounds via midi that could be used. Your input is welcome. pylonbitch
i recently got a roland td3 and am more than happy with it. midi capable, so triggering your own sounds via pc or sound module no problem. chokeable cymbals... 32 decent kits. i'm not really a full-time drummer, but the sounds are pretty good, and it's a pretty versatile kit. mesh snare etc etc. superb. my mate dave has the td8 which is much better. ottobahn
I got a td-8 with mesh pads, chokable cymbals etc. when i moved into an apartment a few years ago. It is such a blast to play. there are some decent sounds in there (i recommend the 'rosewood' toms, and the 13" snare - everything else sounds a bit too 'fake'). the 'fusion' kit is pretty good too actually. mind you, i like to play metal... I tried triggering my own sample library via an maudio usb midi interface, but either the sound card on my laptop isn't up to snuff or maybe i set something up wrong - everything was marginally delayed. I'm definitely going to look into it again - it would make programming drums a breeze. i feel like roland>hart for the most part, though i was close to getting a hart kit back when i was shopping around. td6 is def a good option. td3 might even cut it depending on what you're looking for. i got my kit used on ebay - lots of options there. best of luck. woofer
Have either of you used other sample sounds to, for example, make an e-drum set sound like a BoC drum track? Is this doable? woofer
damn you are a good quoter - but that doesn't change the fact that I'm still curious and encouraging of conversation concerning the usage of electronic kits in electronic composition. mosca
i hooked a td3 up to a PC and used it to play ez-drummer and BFD it was nice you could... 1. sample all your BoC hits 2. load them into Battery or some other drumsynth VST 3. use drum kit to input midi and play or just get a kp1 and save yourself the hassle Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide mosca's signature Hide all signatures Touch my bum...
