Guest hellomynameis
lol I feel like i've posted quite a few thread here but anyway, I was just wondering about the TR505 I got recently. Ive been reading that it is very very bendable, but im not sure whether to do a breakout box or not for all the bends. I was hoping to do a patchbay but i'm thinking the only problem is cutting the printer port for the box. But on the plus side you can remove it when not in use. Can anyone give me some help in this area? Just wondering what the best method is to go for really. Guest awsbyern
just put toggle switches right into the top of the face of the 505. there's enough room under there and keeps it all compact. you'll only needs about 10 or so switches because even though there a lot of variations to can do with the resistors many of them sound too similar to dedicate to it's own switch. by the way, most of the mods you make will be very digital sounding. i (and others i know that have modded a 505) do not ever use the modded sounds; it doesn't sound very good. i guess that's another reason not to invest the time into making a breakout box. the 606 is a good breakoutbox-worthy one. Guest hahathhat
doing a butcher job on a box and making it look like it belongs there is a black art some people have a talent, some don't. but, it doesn't have to look good to work... just has to work to work. if you're worried about it looking nice, and you have no experience, sacrifice a casio to the gods or something first i've never bent a 505, but from what people tell me it's pretty cramped inside. if you're doing five switches, you can probably pull it off easily, but much more then that and it starts to be stress city just be calm and let it flow don't try to do it overnight Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31519-circuit-bending-a-tr505/#findComment-670970 Share on other sites
Guest awsbyern
505's are not cramped at all, the face is slanted upward with plenty of space. like i said above, you can fit 10-12 switches on there, no problem. Guest hellomynameis
ok well i've had an idea, I could add a break out box with a patch bay via a printer port. Thus on the front panel I could add a few preset switches to use when I simply don't want to use the patch bay. Is this probably the best way to go forward? As I would have the flexibility if required EDIT: Yeah i've fooled around with my casio mt 210 and fucked it up quite a bit, but it is still going strong. Can anyone recomend me any good bends to put pots on, I know I could add distortion but apart from volume & pitch I can't think of much else...
