I can hear snippets when I listen over headphones, but never any other way.

GBIII and I had a brief discussion over on xlt. I am convinced that much of IO is the monomachine vo synth, but can definitely hear some unusually clear words especially "Pay attention". You can make phrases with the monomachine, but it is difficult and very tedious. So basically, I don't know.

Done. But in Audition, actually. i've whacked out anything lower than about 500Hz, & cranked up the range where the words seem strongest. i can't get at the words myself, but if anyone else wants to try, go ahead.

They probably just found some creepy religious, business strategy, and self-hypnosis tapes or radio/TV programs and ran them through god-knows-what delay/sample&hold/pitchshifting effects. They knew that some nerds on the internet were going to try to figure out what they were saying so they played around with the threshold between some weird illegible demon voice and recognizable snippets of loaded words that elicit apprehension when placed next to each other. It's good preparation for the next 2 tracks which are pretty apprehensive themselves, probably the most on the album.

The sequence/progression of the tracks on this album is brilliant. I thought this track was pretty stupid until a couple days ago when I started thinking about it in context of the other tracks. It's right where it needs to be.

Edit: Also - I definitely don't think it's the voice synth on the Monomachine. It can't get near that realistic, at least not the samples I've heard. I'm positive it's processed samples. But on the Elektron tip, I think the Machinedrum UW's sample mangling functions would work pretty well for the job.
