A lot of it's just to do with the samples I use, but I'll often boost frequencies the 40-80 Hz region for my kicks. A lot of the time I'll combine several samples together for extra punch.

is that guitar sampled from boc dayvan cowboy? the moment that came in at the beginning i instantly thought "boc"

then the drums came in and made it sound very zephry nova. kinda sounds clarkish as well.

Nope, that's my own guitar. I was going for an older, nostalgia-infused kind of sound towards the start of the track, which is something BoC does really well. It's not a comparison I get much, but I can see where it could be made with this track.
